Permanent Eyebrows Makeup in Progress

What is Semi-Permanent Makeup?

Semi-permanent makeup, cosmetic tattooing, and micropigmentation are all names for the same thing, which is the implementation of pigment into the papillary layer of the dermis.

Since they are not completely permanent, the treatments are described as semi-permanent instead. They will last approximately 3-4 years (depending on your skin type and your lifestyle). While tattoos can leave a permanent mark on your skin and the pigment may turn red, purple, or grayish, microblading or powder brows will disappear after a few years without leaving any pigment mark.

The difference between Microblading and Powder Brow?

Microblading is accomplished by drawing freehand. The artist will draw a very thin line, following your natural hair direction to create the most natural look. Microblading uses a fine small blade to implant pigments to draw the hair on clients' skin.

Nanoblading uses a fine nano needle. Nanoblading for eyebrows fills in sparse, thin eyebrows for a thicker appearance. The procedure involves the use of pigmented ink and a super fine needle to create hair-like tattoo strokes. These strokes look like natural hair.

Powder Brow, on the other hand, involves using a machine to create a fuller brow, similar to the look of brow pencil makeup. While the results of Powder Brow or Microblading are more natural than using makeup pencil or eyebrow tinting.

All three techniques not only thicken the appearance of eyebrows but can also change the shape of your brows

How long does semi permanent makeup last?

Results of semi-permanent makeup can last up to several years, depending on the procedure. Semi-permanent eyeliner lasts about 5 years, micropigmentation lasts about 3 years (depending on the part of the skin treated), lip blushing can last up to 5 years, while results of microblading last up to 2 years.

Given that the pigments used are iron oxides, which are injected relatively shallow into the skin, results eventually fade. Part of the pigments is broken down naturally by our bodies, while part of the pigment is removed mechanically – skin renews itself, old cells die and are shed, new cells eventually emerge. This is in no way a negative aspect.

In fact, eventual fading is desirable, as skin changes color and texture throughout the years, facial features change, and we might want to come back for touch-ups every 2 years. Touch-ups serve as an opportunity to refresh and modify the results, look, and color again .

Pre Treatment:

  • Please refrain from all alcohol and aspirin products, such as blood thinners.

  • Please refrain from Ibuprofen and Aleve for 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • The only product for aches and pain that will not make you bleed is Tylenol.

  • Also refrain from Vitamin E and fish oil capsules for 7 days prior to your application.

  • ALL of these make you bleed excessively. Excessive bleeding during the procedure will negatively affect the longevity of your semi-permanent makeup application.
  • Avoid energy drinks that have caffeine & coffee for up to 24 hours prior to your appointment. Not having caffeine in your system will help you to relax much more easily, as well as help to relax the facial muscles in the areas we will be working on.
Woman with Braids

We are unable to work on clients who have the following conditions:

  1. Pregnant or Breastfeeding: It is not worth the risk to your child.

  2. Keloid Scars: Due to the potential risk of scar tissue buildup beneath the skin.

  3. Autoimmune Diseases: Due to compromised skin health.

  4. On Blood Thinners or Have Bleeding Disorders: Excessive bleeding may occur, making it difficult to implant pigment into the skin.

  5. On Accutane Within the Last Year: Accutane thins the top layer of the skin, affecting proper healing.

  6. Botox Within the Last 2 Weeks: It is recommended to wait for botox to settle before microblading.

  7. Stop Retinol/Retin-A 1 Week Prior: Using these products too close to the procedure may cause quicker fading of microbladed brows.

  8. Sunburnt or Have Dermatitis: Skin must be completely healed to avoid pigment loss.

  9. Chemical Peels, Facials, Microdermabrasion 4 Weeks Prior: These procedures remove the top layer of the skin, resulting in pigment loss.

  10. Allergic to Nickel, Lidocaine, Epinephrine: Microblading tools and numbing agents may contain these substances, posing a risk of allergic reaction during the procedure.

Eyebrow Treatment

How to know which one will fit you?

The answer will depend on your lifestyle and preferences, along with an assessment of your skin type. If you have oily, sensitive, mature, or large-pored skin, you may not be a good candidate for microblading. Please trust our recommendations, as many failed results have occurred when clients ignore advice.

For the best pigment retention, we need your full cooperation. 99% of clients who follow a good aftercare process achieve GREAT results. Please plan to book an appointment only when you're ready to follow the aftercare instructions diligently. Ideally, avoid exercise, sunbathing, vacations, and try to stay in a cool room temperature for 7-10 days after the procedure. You can still go about your daily activities, such as work and errands.

Additionally, please wash your hair before the appointment. You may need assistance from a family member or visit a hair salon for the hair wash. If you're comfortable, you can attempt to wash your hair yourself, ensuring your brows don't get wet during the first 7-10 days after the procedure. This is crucial information we want to convey in advance.

After Care:

DAY 1 - 2: Gently wash your eyebrows with warm water and pat dry with a tissue immediately. This helps remove lymph that may come out after the service, aiding in thinner scab formation and better color retention.

Starting from day 3, you can apply ointment three to four times a day for the next 7 days. Avoid overusing the ointment; your aftercare kit should last for 7 days. Avoid suffocating your eyebrows.

Do not scrub or pick your eyebrows. Picking or rubbing can cause pigment loss and traumatize your skin.

Avoid exercising for at least 3-5 days. Avoid heavy sweating until your brows are fully healed for safety reasons.

Avoid exposing the treated area to the sun or tanning beds. If you must be in the sun, wear a hat for protection.

Avoid facials, swimming, whirlpools, or saunas for 7 days.

Do not apply makeup on the eyebrows.

Avoid tinting your eyebrows for the next 10 days.

Do not use any Retin-A, Glycolic Acids, Peroxide, or Neosporin while healing.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER MICROBLADING OR EYEBROW POWDER PROCEDURES

What to Expect after the treatments:

  • Slight swelling, thickness, and/or redness for one or two days following the procedure.

  • It is normal to lose approximately 1/3 of the color during the healing process.

  • After the initial procedure, the color may be a shade too dark, in six days it will appear to light. After 10 days the color will show more.

  • It will appear softer when completely healed because the color will come from the dermal layer of the skin to the epidermal layer of the skin.

  • >>>> Please be patient. Healing takes up to 30 days. In your next appointment more hairs can be added and make them perfect.

  • The brows are approximately 20 to 25% darker and bolder in the width than they will be when healed. Your skin is red under the pigment which causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to the thickness of the skin in the eyebrow area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which begins in a few days, will cause the excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow procedure to flake away and a narrower appearance of your eyebrows. Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size then you desire. This is all part of the process.
